We need YOU!
Would you like to make a difference in the lives of the women and children who we serve? Please consider volunteering for the Women's Shelter and Support Center. We host an informational meeting every second Thursday at 5:30 pm. Please contact Terri at firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a space at the meeting to learn more about volunteer opportunities.
Current Volunteer Needs 2018
Community Outreach Volunteer
Do you love to interact with the community? Would you like to help spread the word about our services? We are seeking outreach volunteers to assist us with community events by sitting at our informational table, sharing information about the shelter and answering questions. We provide the training, you provide the enthusiasm.
Keeping up routine maintenance on multiple facilities is a full time job for our Director of Facilities. Can you help? Whether you can fix a faucet or change a lightbulb, we are always in need of folks to "help out around the house."
Spring Cleaning Volunteer
Well, we really need help cleaning at any time of year. You can make a glowing difference at one of our shelters by assisting us with deep cleaning.
Data Entry and Donor Recognition
A lot of work goes on behind the scenes of a nonprofit. One of the most important administrative tasks we have is to track and acknowledge our donors. If you want to help out but are more comfortable behind a computer screen than providing direct service, we could really use your help!
Food and Donation Assistant
We have so many generous friends in the community who offer donations of food, linens, clothing, etc. Our staff relies on volunteers to help sort, put away and stock those donations.
Help create a beautiful, functional and safe outdoor environment for women and children in crisis. Green thumbs are recommended but not required.
So many grants, so little time. If you have prior grant writing experience and want to help out with prospecting and applying for grants, we have a job for you!
Children's Outing Assistant
Spring is in the air and that means that the children staying at the shelter get antsy and want to go to parks and on activities. You can help our paid staff heard cats, so to speak.
Child Care Assistant
Would you like to help over-stressed moms staying at the shelter with a little time off? Child care assistants play with the kids or do simple art projects to give their moms a much needed break.
Are you certified in Reiki or Healing Touch? Our residents are often in need of relaxing, non-touch therapeutic modalities to help manage stress.
Programming for Women
Are you interested in offering special programming for women who have been impacted by domestic violence? Do you have a special skill you would like to share? We are looking for folks to run game nights for families, host art classes or opportunities for relaxation (aeromatherapy, meditation, etc.)
Do you have experience in one or more of the following areas: nonprofit board member, leadership of groups/organizations, project management, nonprofit governance or organizational management?
If you said “yes” and are interested in more information on becoming a Women’s Shelter and Support Center Board Member, contact Kelly Classic (email@example.com) to learn more. Please put Women’s Shelter Board in the subject line.
