Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with the Women’s Shelter & Support Center! We are in the exciting (and busy!) process of moving into our new building, so we’re pausing new volunteer onboarding until February 2, 2026.

Volunteer Positions

NOTE: Most volunteer positions require: Background checks; A high level of confidentiality; and Completion of volunteer orientation. Some positions may require additional training.

 CLIENT WORK:

  1. Advocate Assistant: Assist with crisis hotline calls, providing emotional support and resources to individuals experiencing domestic violence. Training will be provided.

  2. Childcare Volunteer: Ensure a safe environment for children during support groups or safety needs activities. Provide age-appropriate activities and a caring presence.

  3. Support Group Co-Facilitator: Co-facilitate support groups for survivors, creating a safe space for sharing experiences and fostering empowerment.

  4. Language Interpretation Volunteer: Assist with interpretation services for non-English-speaking survivors during intake, meetings, and legal appointments.

  5. Other specialty areas: Do you have a special skill to share, such as Reiki practitioner, financial literacy instructor, etc. Let us know and we may have a volunteer opportunity for you.  

 Community Outreach / Public Speaking:

  1. Ambassador: Share information about our program with friends, peers, co-workers by hosting an informational presentation at your home, work, or other location.

  2. Community Outreach Booths: Raise awareness about domestic violence, shelter services, and available resources at information booths at community events.

  3. Public Speaking: Present educational presentations to groups at schools, businesses, and local organizations.

 Maintenance / Cleaning / Organizing:

  1. Handi-Person: Assist with maintenance projects.

  2. Gardens / Landscape: Help with outdoor beautification needs and projects.

  3. Donations Assistant: Help sort and organize donated items.

  4. Meals: Assist in the kitchen with meal preparation, serving, and cleanup.

  5. Cleaning: Support occasional deep cleaning projects.

 Administrative / Communications:

  1. Data Entry: Entering donations into our database system.

  2. Communications: Assist in creating E-Newsletters, social media posts, and brochures.

  3. Graphic Design: Support design needs for invitations, newsletters, and social media posts.

  4. Event Planning: Assist with fundraising events to support programs and services.

  5. Board of Directors: Support our mission in this unpaid board opportunity. Click here for a board interest form.
