Women's Shelter has much to be thankful for this year! In the midst
of tragedy in our country and a tremendous need to help the victims of
those tragedies, you have not forgotten those, on the home front, that
need help. As usual we have been the recipients of an outpouring of compassion
and generosity from the community throughout the year. Your contributions
made it possible for us to provide battered women and their children with
quality services, personal care items, and items for their move to independent
housing.
We want to say “thank you” to the many churches,
schools, medical clinics, women’s organizations, service clubs, fraternal
organizations, private businesses and citizens who donated goods and funds.
We want to say “thank you” to the many members of our community who have
volunteered time and elbow-grease to paint, wallpaper, clean, and repair
our houses. We greatly appreciate your efforts.
Your in-kind donations
saved us thousands of dollars in cleaning and repair work. You helped keep
our houses and equipment in good condition. You made it possible to give
the women and children clothing, personal care items, and help in setting
up their new housing.
Your cash donations
purchased thousands of hours of safety, advocacy, and other programming.
You made it possible to have music appreciation for the children in our
school. You made it possible to have a reading program for the children
and to give each child their favorite book when they left. Because of you,
we were able to help some immigrant women obtain citizenship. We were able
to help some women relocate for safety or find their missing families and
relatives.
Your support has
touched the lives of many women and children who have found shelter and
safety with us. While in the interest of privacy we do not publish the
names of individual contributors, we want you to know how very grateful
we are for your kindness and support, and for your commitment to a safer
world.
